今回は、日本に暮らすJFCユースが対象のワークショップで自分自身のことを躊躇せずに話ができる環境が作りたくて非公開で行いました。

「パドレプロジェクト　父の影を追って」の監督である武内剛さんをお迎えし、まず、映画を一緒に鑑賞しました。武内剛さんは、日本人の母親とカメルーン人の父親を両親として生まれました。このドキュメンタリーフィルムは、武内剛さんが2歳で生き別れた父を探しにイタリアへの旅の記録です。

その後、フィルム鑑賞後、武内剛さんから映画への想いを語って頂きました。母子家庭で日本で育つ中、母親が一生懸命に育ててくれたおかげで貧しさを感じたことはなかったこと、小学校に入学してから自分と周りの友人の「違い」に気づかされたこと、思春期になるにつれ、日本社会への不満や反発が大きくなって言ったこと、そんな日本が嫌でアメリカに飛び立ち、人種のるつぼの社会に身を置くことで、初めて周りから気にされない心地よさを感じたこと、その後、なぜ日本に戻ってきたのか、そして、どうしてフィルムの上映を決心したのか、などなど話をして下さいました。

その後、3つのグループに分かれ、ワークショップを行いました。武内剛さんからは「お父さんに会えた人、会えなかった人、もしかしたら今、まさに自分の「パドレプロジェクト」をやっている人、いろんな人がいると思う、ここに参加するのが辛い人もいるかもしれないけれど、今日は参加してくれてありがとう」というメッセージが送られました。

ワークショップは、JFCユース自身が企画し、運営・通訳もJFC自身が行いました。話し合った内容なども互いに発表し、最後は時間が足りなくなるほど、満ち足りた時間でした。「時間が足りなかった。もっと話がしたかったし、もっと皆の話を聞きたかった。」と参加したメンバーは口々に言っていました。

ワークショップ後は、居酒屋で交流会も行いました。はじめて参加したメンバーも、居酒屋から参加したメンバーもいましたが、JFC同士の絆をぐっと深めることができたように感じています。

お忙しい中、ワークショップに参加して下さった武内剛さんに心から感謝します。武内剛さんとの交流は参加したJFCたちにとって様々な「きっかけ」や「気づき」や「勇気」を与えてくれたと信じています。

On May 18th, 2025 (Sunday) afternoon, we held a JFC Youth Workshop, with 10 JFC Youth members participating.

This workshop was held as a private event for JFC Youth living in Japan, with the aim of creating an environment where they could speak freely about themselves without hesitation.

We welcomed Mr. Go Takeuchi, director of “Padre Project: In Search of My Father,” and started by watching the film together. Mr. Go Takeuchi was born to a Japanese mother and a Cameroonian father. This documentary film is a record of Mr. Takeuchi’s journey to Italy in search of his father, whom he was separated from at the age of two.

After watching the film, Mr. Takeuchi shared his thoughts on the film with us.He shared how he grew up with his mother in a single-parent family in Japan and never felt poverty thanks to his mother’s hard work, how he became aware of the “differences” between himself and his friends when he entered elementary school, how his dissatisfaction and frustration with Japanese society grew as he entered his teenage years, how he left Japan because he hated it and moved to the United States, where he felt comfortable for the first time because he was not treated differently by others, and why he eventually returned to Japan.why he decided to make a film.

After that, we divided into three groups and held a workshop. Mr. Go Takeuchi sent a message saying, “Some of you may have met your fathers, some may not have, and some may be working on your own ‘Padre Project’ right now. I know that some of you may find it difficult to participate in this workshop, but thank you for coming today.”

The workshop was planned and facilitated by JFC Youth members themselves, who also provided interpretation. Participants shared the topics they discussed with each other, and the time passed so quickly that there wasn’t enough time to finish. Many participants said, “There wasn’t enough time. I wanted to talk more and hear more from everyone.”

After the workshop, we enjoyed meal, drinks and conversation at a Japanese-style casual restaurant, “Izakaya”. Some members joined for the first time, and one joined directly from the workshop, but we felt that the bonds between JFC members grew much stronger.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Go Takeuchi for participating in the workshop despite his busy schedule. We believe that the time spent with Mr. Go Takeuchi provided the JFC Youth participants with various motivations, insights, and courage.
