「社会貢献者は、広く社会の各分野において、社会と人々の安寧と幸福のために尽くされ、顕著な功績挙げながら報われる機会の少なかった方々を対象として」いるそうです。

今回は30団体が受賞され、そのうち、JFCネットワークの他、カラカサン、アイキャン、無国籍ネットワーク、RAFIQ難民との共生ネットワーク、名南病院、無戸籍の人を支援する会、レガートおおた、など外国人支援にかかわる団体がいくつも受賞されていました。

帝国ホテルでの豪華なお食事にはじまり、各団体の紹介もとても有意義で、様々な団体の方々との再会や出会いはとても貴重なものでした。

1890年に設立したという帝国ホテル。その当時、海外からの賓客を迎える日本の迎賓館としての役割を担っていたという歴史あるホテルに宿泊する機会はおそらく、一生でもう二度とないかもしれませんが、建築としても重量感を感じさせるものでした。

正直、参議院選挙を目前にして、排外主義の煽動が勢いを増している今、すべての人々の人権を尊重し、様々なルーツを持つ人たちを尊重できる社会をつくるために、この現状にどう立ち向かっていったらいいのか…と悶々とした日々を過ごしていました。しかし、2日間にわたる式典は実にゆったりとした時間が流れていましたが、再会した仲間や出会えた人々と話ができたことで、これからの活動へのエネルギーを充電できたように感じます。

The JFC Network was selected as the 63rd Social Contribution Award recipient by the Social Contribution Support Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, and our chairperson Masako Suzuki, vice chairperson Sawa Omori, and secretary general Rieko Ito attended the ceremony at the Imperial Hotel on July 13 and 14.

“The Social Contribution Award is intended for individuals who have dedicated themselves to the welfare and happiness of society and its people across various fields, yet have had few opportunities to be recognized for their outstanding achievements.”

This time, 30 organizations received awards, including JFC Network, Kalakasan, I Can, Stateless Network, RAFIQ Refugee Support Network, Meinan Hospital, the Group for Support of Unregistered in Koseki, and Legato Ota, as well as many other organizations involved in supporting foreigners.

The event began with a luxurious dinner at the Imperial Hotel, followed by meaningful introductions of each organization. The opportunity to reconnect with and meet people from various organizations was truly valuable.

The Imperial Hotel was established in 1890. As a historic hotel that once served as Japan’s official state guesthouse for foreign dignitaries, staying there may be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The architecture itself is marked by a sense of grandeur.

Frankly, with the Upper House elections coming and a rise in racist hate speech, I had been spending my days feeling restless, wondering how to confront the current situation and work toward building a society that respects the human rights of all people and values those with diverse backgrounds.However, the two-day ceremony unfolded at a leisurely pace, and the talking with old friends and new faces left me feeling recharged with energy for future commitments to action.
