2026年3月5日（木）、新宿K’sシネマで長谷川大知監督作品「日本とフィリピンを生きるストーリー ケン編」が上映されました。上映後、長谷川大知監督の登壇がありました。ケンさんはあいにく来られなかったのですが、作品を観に来て下さった方々への手紙を準備して下さり、その手紙を紹介させて頂きました。（※English is below）

2月28日～3月6日までのフィリピン映画祭はとても賑わっていました。上映を観に来ていた多くはフィリピンの人達で、日本に居ながらフィリピン映画を観る機会がほとんどない中、今回の映画祭はとても貴重な機会なのだと感じました。

ハイメ・パセナ２世監督作品の「この場所」は、3月7日（金）～13日（金）まで、同じく新宿K’sシネマで19：45～上映されています。見逃した方はぜひ観に行かれてください。今日は3月11日。東日本大震災から15年が経ちました。「この場所」の舞台は岩手県陸前高田市。そして、日本に暮らしていたフィリピン人の父親が亡くなったことをきっかけに、父の娘のJFCと、フィリピンに暮らす異母姉妹の交流を描いた作品です。異母姉妹の交流を観ながら、いろいろなケースのことを考え、さまざまな思いを抱きました。「日本に暮らすフィリピン人の父」という設定が実際には稀なため、監督さんがなぜ「フィリピン人の父」という設定にしたのだろうと聞いてみたくなりました。

On Thursday, March 5, 2026, the film ”Stories of Living in Japan and the Philippines: Ken’s Story” directed by Daichi Hasegawa was screened at Shinjuku K’s Cinema. Following the screening, the director Daichi Hasegawa was present on stage. Unfortunately, Ken was unable to attend, but he had prepared a letter for those who came to see the film, and we had the opportunity to share that letter.

The Philippine Film Festival, running from February 28 to March 6, was very crowded. Many of those who came to watch the films were Filipinos. Given that opportunities to watch Philippine films while in Japan are rare, I felt this festival was a very precious occasion.

Director Jaime Pasena II’s film “This Place” is screening at Shinjuku K’s Cinema from March 7 (Fri) to 13 (Fri), starting at 7:45 PM. If you missed it, we highly recommend going to watch it. Today is March 11th. Fifteen years have passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake. “This Place” is set in Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture. It portrays the relationship between JFC, the daughter of a Filipino father who lived in Japan and passed away, and her half-sisters living in the Philippines. Watching their interactions made me think about various situations and stirred many feelings. Since the setting of a “Filipino father living in Japan” is actually quite rare, I found myself wanting to ask the director why he chose this particular “Filipino father” setting.
